Rural Traveller is committed to the values of sustainable tourism and eco conservation. It was created to support Society for Mahseer Conservancy an award-winning, non-profit-making organisation, offering hands-on conservation volunteer work with a purpose for everyone. We bridge the gap between conservationists involved in saving critically endangered wildlife and their habitat in need of funds and assistants, and enthusiastic laypeople, who in their holiday time, through their hands-on assistance and with their expedition contribution want to support them.

With Rural Traveller you’ll get to explore fascinating Himalayan state of Uttarakhand and besides adventure and fun a real hands-on experience of working on wildlife conservation volunteering projects. You can join us for anything from a weekend to several months and at least two-thirds of your holiday contribution will go directly into the conservation project locally, funding it long-term and sustainably.

Our three key themes are safety, satisfaction and save. We firmly believe that results are best when you are safe, comfortable and having fun. Rural Traveller holidays are open to all, there are no special skills required to join as you’ll eventually develop necessary skills in the excursion that you take part in, and there are no age limits whatsoever. Our conservation volunteering team members are people from all walks of life, of all ages, looking for an adventure holiday with a purpose. Teams are small and there is a dedicated expedition leader with the teams at all times.
